Psquare, Dbanj, DavidO, Wizkid, Vector got Headies Award
“Headies”, music award rolled its 3rd Edition, as M.I., the self-acclaimed African number one rapper and Omawumi held the mic as host.The event was scheduled for 9pm, but started 12am, later by 3 hours. The fast growing lyricist, Vector the Viper whose real name is Olanrewaju Ogunmefun won two award titles, the “Lyricist on the Role”, and “Best Rap Single”
A presentation of song collabo titled, “The Headies” thrilled the hall audience as Omawumi and M.I. trilled the audiences at the event.
Omawumi “the Urhobo mama” knows to stylishly blend English with Pidgin bet on N500,000 that she will not spill an inch of Pidgin English that night.
Chidima, 2010 Project Fame trophy holder opened the floor with her market rocking popular song “Kedike”.
However,
the Okoye twin “P Square” breaks carried two award trophies courtesy of their new album “Invasion” after a two year break from the Headies award. The title they won was “Best R&B-Pop” as well as “Album of the year”. After whipping Clearence Peters his competitor, P Square elder brother, Jude Okoye came out with the “Best Music Video” award.
The Grand master award at the Headies “Artiste of the year” went to Wizkid. The 22-year-old Ayo Balogun took two awards, first was “Artiste of the year” and the other was “Revelation of the year”.
“Best Vocal Performance” went to MAVIN Records duo of Tiwa Savage and Wande Coal, both in female and male category. “Private trips” was Wande’s header while “Love me 3x” pushed Tiwa to claim the award.
DavidO got one Hyundai Sonata that accompanied the title “Next Rated”
Some other artistes who graced and perform in the night out includes; Praiz and Bez, in a band performed their “Stupid song”, “Great nation” came from Timi Dakolo, rookies Burna Boy with Dammy Krane did “Surprisingly”
Brymo, Chuddy K, and DavidO also came out with an exciting performance in the Headies 3rd Edition.
The Headies music award is created to re-unite Nigerian musicians of the 80s & 90s, it is a way to let them know the impact they have played in the industry and over the country in general.
Onyeka Owenu, Mike Okori, Shina Peters, Daddy Showkey, Oris Wiliki, Rolling Dollar, Baba Fryo and others are the targeted musicians.
Some of the award winners and Nominees that were not available for the event includes; P Square, May D who won the “Best RnB single”, D’Banj, the Marvin Crew, Sardokie who won the “African artiste of the year” and Ice Prince.

8. Tiwa Savage in Love me, Love me went home with the ‘Best Vocal Performance Female’
9. Soundsultan ft Excel and Flavor with the ‘Orobo’ song got ‘the Best Collaboration’
10. ‘Oliver Twist’ of D’banj got ‘the Song of the Year’
11. ‘Ara’ by Brymo got ‘the Recording of the year’ award
12. TYMix Super C Season by Naeto C got ‘the Producer of the year’
13. ‘Chop My Money Remix’ by Jude Okoye got ‘the Best Music Video’
14. DavidO – Next Rated
15. Wizkid went away with ‘the Hip-Hop Revelation of the Year’
16. Sarkodie in ‘Azonto Fiesta’ got ‘the African Artist of the Year’
17. Femi Kuti got the grand ‘Headies Hall of Fame’ award.
