Wizkid gets MOBO Best African Act

Fast rising pop sensational artiste, Ayo Ibrahim Balogun popularly known as Wizkid snatched the Best African Act last night.
The event which is the 16th annual ceremony of the award was broadcasted live on BBC3 from SECC, Glassglow Scotland with Jason Derulo and Alesha Dixon as the host.

The EME record star known for some of his hit songs like “Holla at your boy”, “Pakurumo”, “Love my Baby”, “Don’t Dull” was not present at the presentation of the Award. Wizkid is one of the youngest MOBO award recipient and still up for the MTV EMA Award this year.
Tinie Tempah who is of Nigeria parentage also shined at the award by taking home the best U.K Hip Hop award/Grime Acts.
However,it was Jessie J who really wowed the audience with her performance coupled with the fact that she took home 4 awards – “Best U.K Act”, “Best Newcomer”, “Best Album (Who you are)” and “Best Song (Do it like a Dude).
Other award presented include: Best Video (Tinchy Stryder & Dappy ‘Spaceship’), Best International Act (Rihanna), Best U.K R&B/Soul act (Adele), Best Raggae (Alborosie), Best Gosple act (Tripple O), Best Jazz act (Kairos 4tet) while the outstanding contribution to music goes to Boy II men.
The MOBO award was established in 1995 by Kanya King MBE & Andy Ruffel to recognice artiste of any ethnicity or nationality performing black music
The next MOBO awards are scheduled for 2013 and 2015 at the same venue in Glassglow.
